January 2011
Usually this time of year there is the smell of smoke from bush fires somewhere in the State.
However this year the weather pattern has been clearly influenced by the "El Nina" phenomenon and basically its been wet since December, culminating with the floods that have devastated Queensland.
Our garden has never looked greener and its almost weekly that the pruning shears are heard giving the bushes a "hair cut".
The water tanks fill so regularly that they have to be monitored so that water is directed to the needy plant so to allow the room in the tanks for the new fresh rain water.

Dad (Dougall) and Mum (Isabella) have produced a wonderful addition the Pennefather & Briedis tribes.

Several days of temperatures of 40 and as high as 45 caused heat stress to the vegetation around our home.
I noticed that many other houses in our suburb had suffered the same to their gardens and noticeably to the European trees and shrubs.
What remains to be seen is if the trees loose their leaves or even drop their branches or simply die.

Posted by PicasaA recent trip to Canberra's Weston Park allowed Freiya to chase some local wildlife and she did. Freiya chased them back into the bush from whence they came. I suppose they didn't want to hear stories about her Teddies or Donald Duck, Bilby or Raccoonie.... they had their own stories from the bush
